must be in place. lawmakers submitted a proposal to governor jerry brown but he vetoed the package. and as of july 1 the deadline gets closer and tensions are mounting. this was the scene tonight in sacramento. a news conference in front of the governor's office, saying it's his fault. and that did not sit well with the governor. as kron 4's terisa estacio reports, he leveled his own criticism. >> reporter: governor jerry brown jumped in while speaking in san francisco. >> to get this thing. >> reporter: while offering encouragement to the industry he nailed legislators. during a question and answer session the governor said he doesn't want to make massive cuts to? structure and edge caution but he says if tax extensions failed to happen then he will have no choice. as far as republicans, accusing him of refusing him to put down pension reform, brown struck back with these words. >> we are ready to go. as late as last night. he felt we were getting there. this stuff changes, sometimes they blow hot and cold. i am not giving up. i am going to keep working to get the tax extensions.

name is jerry gway. i live at 472 and 474 connecticut street between 19th and 20th. just my wife and daughter and i both live there and during the past several years since 2002, we have been working with our neighbors, primarily tom and robin, to facilitate improving the design and layout of our home. additionally, our goal has always gone preclude any negative impact to our neighbors while adding value to our home as well as knabed in in general. we have a great deal of time, finances and energy invested throughout these years in the planned improvements and planned on retiring there and raising our family. most recently, mid-2008, 2009, we proposed a vertical addition as a result of our daughter's birth and it created more need for living space. the current design of our home is effectively a one bedroom with no functional living area. it's one of those 150 old vic torrian -- vic toran sort of dysfunctional layout out. at that point they retained the services of their architect to advise them on this proposal and help request a discretionary review. additionally robin indicated in

the fact that jerry garcia used to play in this park, he was from this neighborhood, everybody knows his reputation. we thought what a great thing it would be to have an ampitheater named after jerry garcia. that is a name that has panache. it brings people from all over the bay area to the ampitheater. the calls that come in, we'd like to do a concert at the jerry garcia ampitheater and we do everything we can to accommodate them and help them because it gets people into the park. people like a lot of color and that's what they call a park. other people don't. you have to try to reconcile all those different points of view. what should a park look like and what should it have? should it be manicured, should it be nice little cobblestones around all of the paths and like that. the biggest objective of course is getting people into the park to appreciate open space. whatever that's going to take to make them happy, to get them there, that's the main goal. if it takes a planter with flowers and stuff like that, fine. you know, so what? people need to get away from that urban rush and n

veteran and harley owner jerry gomez is talking about this security camera video he watched on news 4 monday night. it shows a thief riding off stealing a very special motorcycle. one that was covered with purple hearts, belonging to an army national guardsmen, who wanted to pay special tribute to wounded troops. >> just to see that upsets me. i like bikes, i like harleys, and'm a vet, and i just see what that poor guy went through. i know what it's like that you're violated. >> because jerry's bike, a 2009 harley-davidson was the exact same model as the soldier's bike. it too was stolen from jerry's crystal city parking garage in arlington last month. normally this door is closed, only residentses can get in and out. on the morning that jerry's bike was stolen in may. he said he noticed something was odd. the door was stuck in the up position. jerry isn't sure how the thieves got his motorcycle out of the garage. fairfax county police believe whoever was in this white van had something to do with the theft of the purple motorcycle. insurance has replaced his bike. gomez says he now

randy and brother wind which was one of jerry [inaudible] honor books. i have done my dearest apron. the latest one is [inaudible] the women of [inaudible] bend. these are about the women that made those wonderful quilts all over the world. alabama, the poorest county in the depression. the women made these quilts because they needed to keep her children warm and would stack them to make a mattress. they covered the tables with them, they used them for their children to crawl on when they would go outside and have picnics. they used the quilts for everything, small ones and large ones. now today, those quilts are going for 25,000 and more. it was my pleasure to go to g's bend and had the opportunity to quilt with them. my next picture book, i will share this with you and it is called never gotten. i would like to share it because this is something that had been in the process for about 20 years. i have been asking every west african that i have met, did you miss us? what i meant by that was are there stories in your culture that talk about the ones who were taken away? did you tell
